Heavy-duty towing in Cheyenne, WY, starts where I-25 meets I-80, and D&J Towing takes the semis, trailers, buses and work trucks that go down on either one. Wind and winter closures hit this junction hard, so check the road before you roll and have your exit ready when you call.
Cheyenne sits where I-25 and I-80 cross, so freight from both runs through town, and the breakdowns run heavy: a tractor that quit on the shoulder, a trailer the wind laid on its side, a bus or box truck that needs to go to a shop. Our heavy-duty towing covers the big units, and semi truck towing covers tractors and tractor-trailers, loaded or empty.
D&J is a family-owned company that has run tows and recoveries since 1984. One 24/7 line answers for every Wyoming lane we run.
Our Wyoming focus is heavy-duty and commercial. If you are in a passenger car or need a smaller roadside job in Cheyenne, call and ask dispatch what we can do where you are.
"Cheyenne" covers two interstates and a dozen exits. Pick your direction and the last exit you passed, and read the line in the dispatch panel out loud. It tells us which side of the interchange you are on before the truck leaves.
Which way are you headed?
Last exit you passed
I-25 northbound
I-25 southbound
I-80 westbound
I-80 eastbound
No exit in sight? Give the nearest mile marker, or open the map on your phone and read dispatch your GPS pin.
"I'm heading north on I-25. I passed Exit 7, College Drive, and the next exit is 8, I-80."
Truck stops sit right off Exit 7, and the I-25 and I-80 interchange is next.
Then add what you are running, loaded or empty, and how it sits: shoulder, ditch, on its side or in a lane.
Call (303) 674-0198If the unit can still move and the problem can wait for a tow, a truck stop lot is a safer place to meet us than a narrow shoulder. These lots sit right on the interstates around Cheyenne.
Several truck stops sit right off this exit, just south of the I-80 interchange.
A travel center between I-80 Exit 358 and I-25 Exit 9, on the west side of town.
A truck stop east of the city, before US 30 leaves at Exit 370.
Tell dispatch the lot name and where in the lot you parked. For the climb west toward the summit, see Laramie towing.
The few miles of I-25 between Cheyenne and Colorado see more than their share of blowovers. WYDOT names Wyo Hill, just south of the city, as one of the spots where high wind has tipped trucks and trailers, and many of the units that go over are light or empty.
WYDOT's wind signs list a minimum gross vehicle weight: under it, you do not go. Box trucks, rental moving trucks included, are covered. When gusts reach 60 mph or more, WYDOT posts extreme blowover risk. Check wyoroad.info, the Wyoming 511 app or call 511 before you roll.
When a trailer goes over, the job is a recovery before it is a tow: the unit has to be stood up or cleared, and the freight dealt with, before anything is hooked. For runs north toward Wheatland and Douglas, see the I-25 corridor.
Anything not covered here, call dispatch and ask. The same number covers Cheyenne, the rest of southeastern Wyoming and our Colorado routes.
It depends on where the truck is coming from, the size of the job and whether WYDOT has the road closed. Dispatch will tell you what to expect when you call, so give the exit or mile marker right away.
Price depends on the distance, the size and weight of the unit, how hard the recovery is, the time and conditions, and the equipment the job needs. We take cash, Mastercard and Visa.
Yes. We work both sides of the line, and the same dispatch covers Colorado and Wyoming. Tell us where the unit needs to end up when you call.
Tell dispatch the interstate, the direction, the exit or mile marker and what you are running, and dispatch will line up the right truck for the junction you are near. Hauling or towing elsewhere in southeastern Wyoming runs through the same line; see all of southeastern Wyoming.
