Heavy-duty towing
Buses, box trucks, work trucks and other heavy units towed off I-25, I-80 and the roads between towns, with recovery when a unit is on its side, jackknifed or down in the ditch.
Heavy-duty towingD&J Towing runs heavy hauling in Wyoming for contractors and equipment owners, plus heavy-duty towing and recovery for semis, commercial trucks and loaded trailers. The operation is built around Wheatland and the I-25 corridor, and the same 24/7 number that covers our Colorado routes answers here.
Our Wyoming work sits at the heavy end of what D&J does: big units, long distances between towns, and equipment that has to move on a schedule. These are the calls to make to us here.
Buses, box trucks, work trucks and other heavy units towed off I-25, I-80 and the roads between towns, with recovery when a unit is on its side, jackknifed or down in the ditch.
Heavy-duty towingTractors and tractor-trailers that break down or leave the road on the interstates, loaded or empty, towed to the shop, yard or destination you name.
Semi truck towingPlanned moves for excavators, loaders and other machines between job sites, yards and ranches, with offloading where access is tight.
Equipment haulingCarriers and fleets that run Wyoming and Colorado lanes can set up a standing account, so every driver knows which number to call before trouble hits.
Fleet towingNeed something lighter in Wyoming, like a passenger car or a roadside fix? Call and ask dispatch what we can do where you are.
Pick a town to see roughly how far it sits from Wheatland, the highway that gets there, and what the heavy work looks like on that stretch. Mileage is approximate, measured along the highway.
I-25 exits 78 and 80 serve town. WYO 34 leaves the interstate at exit 73, just south.
Wheatland is the center of our Wyoming operation, sitting on I-25 roughly halfway between Cheyenne and Douglas. Farm, ranch and energy work spreads out from here across long distances, so equipment moves and off-pavement recoveries are common in this part of the state.
Towing in Wheatland, WYI-25 exits 54 and 57, south of Wheatland toward Cheyenne.
Chugwater sits on the stretch of I-25 between Cheyenne and Wheatland that WYDOT closes to light, high-profile vehicles in high wind, and has closed outright in winter storms. Empty trailers and light box trucks are the units most at risk of going over on open ground like this.
Towing in Chugwater, WYI-25 meets I-80 on the west side of the city.
Cheyenne is where I-25 and I-80 cross, so freight from both interstates runs through town. Wyo Hill, just south of the city on I-25, is one of the spots where high wind has blown over high-profile vehicles. For Colorado-bound loads, the state line is only about 10 miles south.
Towing in Cheyenne, WYI-25 to Cheyenne, then I-80 west. WYO 34 to Bosler is the shorter way.
From Cheyenne, I-80 climbs over Sherman Summit, at 8,640 feet the highest point on all of I-80, before dropping into Laramie. Long grades are hard on the brakes and engines of loaded trucks. From Wheatland, WYO 34 runs 52 miles from I-25 exit 73 to US 30 and US 287 at Bosler, north of Laramie.
Laramie towingI-25 exits 135 and 140, past Glendo and Orin.
North of Wheatland, I-25 follows the North Platte River valley to Douglas. Douglas sits at the edge of Converse County oil and gas country, where trucks carrying water, gravel and rig supplies share the highways and lease roads with interstate freight.
Towing in Douglas, WYI-25 to Dwyer Junction (exit 92), then US 26 east. US 85 runs up from Cheyenne.
US 26 leaves I-25 at Dwyer Junction and runs about 48 miles east through Guernsey, Fort Laramie and Lingle to Torrington. This is farm and cattle country with one of the biggest livestock auctions in the state, so stock trailers and farm equipment share the road with highway freight.
Towing in Torrington, WYThe southern end of I-25 in Wyoming, from the Colorado line north past Douglas.
I-25 runs about 300 miles across Wyoming, from the Colorado line south of Cheyenne to I-90 at Buffalo. Our heavy-duty work covers the southern end, where semis, commercial trucks and loaded trailers break down or leave the road on long, open stretches between towns.
I-25 corridor towingSoutheastern Wyoming is open, high and windy, and the weather decides when a heavy unit can be reached and how it gets recovered. These are the conditions we plan around on every call here.
WYDOT closes stretches of I-25 between Cheyenne and Wheatland, and I-80 around Laramie, to light, high-profile vehicles in high wind. Wyo Hill and the Bordeaux area on I-25 are known blowover spots.
Winter storms close whole sections, including I-25 between Cheyenne and Wheatland. Tell dispatch where you are relative to the closure so the run can be planned around the reopening.
Under a Level 2 restriction, commercial vehicles need chains on at least two drive wheels at opposite ends of the same drive axle. Fines run $250, or $750 when a violation leads to a closure.
Snow and wind at the summit can be far worse than in Cheyenne. Tell dispatch which side of the summit you are on.
Check wyoroad.info or the Wyoming 511 app for current closures before you roll.
Distances are long out here, so the right truck and gear have to leave on the first trip. A two-minute call with these details covers it.

Our Wyoming work is heavy-duty and commercial: heavy-duty and semi truck towing, recovery of units that leave the road, heavy equipment hauling and offloading, and fleet accounts. It is built around Wheatland and the I-25 corridor and reaches Cheyenne, Laramie, Douglas, Torrington and Chugwater.
Our yard address is 30495 Bryant Dr in Evergreen, Colorado. The Wyoming operation is built around Wheatland and the I-25 corridor, and dispatch for both states answers at (303) 674-0198.
Call anyway. Give dispatch your location, the unit and the closure you are behind or inside, so the run can be planned for when WYDOT reopens the road. If anyone is hurt or in danger, call 911 first.
Price depends on the distance, the size and weight of the unit or machine, how hard the recovery is, the time and conditions, and the equipment the job needs. Call with the details and dispatch can talk you through it.
Yes. The same (303) 674-0198 line answers day and night, every day of the year, holidays included, for Wyoming and Colorado jobs alike.
Give dispatch the highway, the nearest mile marker and what you are running, and we will plan the tow, the recovery or the haul from there. Family-owned since 1984, with the same 24/7 line for every lane from the Colorado foothills to Douglas.
