MM01What we tow

The business vehicles we tow

When a company vehicle goes down, there is usually a crew waiting on it, a route that is falling behind, or a shop that cannot start the repair until the unit arrives. These are the vehicles businesses call us for, and the detail that helps dispatch send the right truck the first time.

  • CV-01

    Contractor and service vans

Plumbing, HVAC, electrical, cleaning and installer vans, usually loaded with shelving, parts and tools.

Tell dispatchRoof racks, ladders, and roughly how heavy the load is.

  • CV-02

    Utility and work trucks

Service-body trucks, stake beds, small dump trucks and landscaping trucks that carry the crew's equipment.

Tell dispatchAny bed, crane, boom or gear that has to be stowed before it moves.

  • CV-03

    Delivery vehicles

Cargo vans and step vans running a route, where every hour on the shoulder means missed stops.

Tell dispatchWhether it is loaded, and whether the cargo has to stay with the vehicle.

  • CV-04

    Company pickups

Supervisor and crew pickups, often four-wheel drive and often pulling a trailer to the job.

Tell dispatchThe drivetrain, and anything hitched behind it.

  • CV-05

    Shuttles and passenger vans

Hotel, church, crew and airport shuttles, plus 12- and 15-passenger vans.

Tell dispatchWhether passengers are still on board, so they can be planned for.

MM02How the work runs

How a commercial tow runs, and what to send at each step

Most of the delay on a business tow is information: the driver does not know where the van should go, or the person who approves the bill cannot be reached. Here is the order the job runs in, with what your side sends at each stage.

StepWhat D&J doesWhat your business sends
1

The call

Dispatch takes the vehicle type, the location and which way it faces, what happened, and where it needs to go.

You sendCompany name, unit number, location, destination, and a callback number for whoever authorizes the tow.
2

Match the truck

Size, drivetrain, load and how the vehicle sits decide whether it rides on a flatbed or goes on a wrecker.

You sendAnything out of the ordinary: a roof rack, a lift gate, a loaded bed or a trailer still hitched.
3

On scene

The operator sets up safely, pulls the vehicle back to solid ground if it is off the pavement, then secures it and any loose gear for the road.

You sendThe driver's name and cell number so the operator can find them, and where the keys will be.
4

Tow and drop

The unit goes to your shop, the dealer, an outside repair shop or your company yard, at a pace that suits the grade and the weather.

You sendThe drop address, a contact there, any repair order number, and the hours they are open.
5

Close it out

The drop is confirmed and the charges are settled.

You sendWho is paying, and any purchase order or job number your company tracks.
MM03Downtime plan for fleet managers

Build a breakdown card for every driver

Fill this out once for each vehicle type you run. The card updates as you go: who to call first, what to say, and where the unit goes. Copy it into your driver handbook or print it for the visor. Nothing you type leaves this page.

Unit ____
  1. Get safe first. Pull as far off the road as you safely can and turn on the hazards. Injury, fire or a blocked lane: call 911 first.
  2. Call D&J Towing, 24/7: (303) 674-0198.
  3. Tell dispatch: company name, unit number, exact location, what happened, and roof racks, ladders and how loaded the van is.
  4. It goes to: our shop, address ____. Tell dispatch which gate or bay, and where the keys go.
  5. Then let your fleet contact know ____ that the unit is on its way.
D&J TowingEvergreen, CO, since 1984

One card per vehicle type. A service van and a shuttle need different details, and each shop or dealer you use gets its own address line. Save the number in every driver's phone too, since cell signal drops in the canyons.
MM04Shop, dealer or yard

Getting the unit to the right place the first time

A tow that ends at the wrong address turns into a second tow and another day out of service. Before the truck leaves the scene, dispatch confirms the destination and anything the drop needs, so the vehicle lands where the repair will actually happen.

We work the Colorado foothills and Denver metro from our yard in Evergreen, across I-70, US 285, CO 74 and CO 119, and we run heavy-duty and commercial work on the I-25 corridor in southeastern Wyoming. D&J has been family-owned in Evergreen since 1984.

Vehicles break down before the crew rolls out and after the last job. Dispatch answers every hour of every day, holidays included.

Your own shop

Give which gate or bay to use, and where to leave the keys if no one is there.

Dealer service

For warranty or recall work, have the dealer name and address and any repair order number or service advisor's name.

Outside repair shop

Check that the shop works on that vehicle type and has room for it, so it is not turned away at the gate.

Company yard

Share the gate code or name the person who will meet the truck, and where the unit should be set down.

After hours

If the drop will be closed when the vehicle arrives, say so when you call so the drop can be planned.

MM05Cost and billing

What decides the cost, and billing the business

Two service vans can be very different jobs. One is upright on a wide shoulder a few miles from your shop. The other is loaded, in a ditch, and an hour up a canyon road in snow. That is why we do not post flat prices. Give dispatch the details on the card and the job is quoted on the call.

When the tow is for a business, tell dispatch the company name and who is authorizing the charge, so the paperwork matches your records. Companies that run several vehicles can read about ongoing fleet support on our fleet towing page.

WreckMaster and I-TECC certified professionals work on our team. Racks, beds and loose gear are secured before a company vehicle moves.

MM06Commercial towing questions

Questions fleet managers ask

If your question is not here, call dispatch at (303) 674-0198. Someone answers every hour of every day.

What counts as commercial vehicle towing?

Towing a vehicle a business runs: contractor and service vans, utility and work trucks, delivery vehicles, company pickups and shuttles. Box trucks and buses rated 14,001 to 26,000 pounds are medium-duty tows, and anything heavier is a heavy-duty tow.

Yes. Tell dispatch the dealer name and address, plus any repair order number or service advisor's name the dealer gave you. If the dealer will be closed when the vehicle arrives, tell dispatch and we will plan where the unit and keys are left.

Tell dispatch the company name and who is authorizing the tow when you call, and ask how the charge will be handled for your company. We accept cash, Mastercard and Visa. Businesses that run several vehicles can ask about our fleet support.

Yes. D&J Towing dispatches 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, holidays included.

It depends on the distance, the vehicle's size and drivetrain, how it is sitting, the load and gear that has to be secured, and the time and conditions. Call (303) 674-0198 with the details and dispatch will quote the job.

Unit down? Call it in.

Have the company name, unit number, location and drop address ready, and dispatch will take it from there. Whether it is a service van on US 285 at 6 AM or a crew pickup on I-70 after dark, the same number answers.
