D&J Towing handles I-70 towing on the foothills stretch, from Wheat Ridge and the Golden exits up the Mount Vernon Canyon grade to El Rancho and Floyd Hill. Our yard is in Evergreen, linked to the interstate by CO 74 at exit 252, and dispatch answers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
On a divided highway, “somewhere past Golden” can mean either side of a median. Pick your direction, enter the number on the nearest green mile-marker post or the last exit sign, and read the line in the dispatch panel out loud.
I am on I-70 westbound near mile marker 257. I passed exit 259, Morrison, and the next exit is 256, Lookout Mountain. The vehicle is on the right shoulder.
From the metro to Floyd Hill the interstate climbs out of city traffic, up a long grade and into a construction zone. Each stretch shapes how our driver sets up and which truck we send.
Heavy commuter traffic and exits every mile or so. If the car will still roll, coast off at the next exit and wait on a side street instead of the shoulder. We cover the city streets on both sides too, from Wheat Ridge to Golden.
US 6, C-470 and County Road 93 all meet the interstate here. Exit 259 is the Morrison end of the traction law zone, so winter rules start to matter the moment you head west from it.
Eastbound, I-70 drops off the crest by Genesee into Mount Vernon Canyon, past brake warning signs and the truck escape ramp at mile 257. Overheated and stalled trucks on this grade are heavy-duty towing jobs, so dispatch sends a heavy-duty wrecker, not a car carrier.
The bison pastures of Genesee Park sit beside the highway at exits 253 and 254, a landmark every caller can see. At exit 252, CO 74 runs south to our yard in Evergreen, so calls on this stretch are close to home.
CDOT is rebuilding this stretch between County Road 65 and the Central City Parkway. Its plan has I-70 in a new alignment in 2028, with overnight westbound closures and weekday traffic holds for rock work along the way. Lane layouts keep changing, so your direction and nearest exit matter more here than anywhere.
CDOT uses two winter rules for passenger vehicles on this corridor. The traction law is the one you will run into most often.
Rules as published by CDOT; check codot.gov or COtrip before you drive up. If you slide off anyway and the car is out of traffic and undamaged, it may only need a winch-out to get back on the road.
I-70 calls come in every size. One dispatch number covers all of it, day or night, and we serve AAA members on the interstate as well.
Traffic on I-70 does not slow down for a car on the shoulder. Our drivers set up for the traffic first and the vehicle second. Until the truck arrives:
"Absolutely fantastic! They rescued us off the side of I 70 during heavy traffic and made fantastic time doing it. The driver was incredibly friendly and professional with the car i call my baby. Strongly recommend this place."
Short answers to the questions dispatch hears most from the interstate. Not covered here? Dispatch picks up 24/7.
Yes. Dispatch answers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, holidays included. The number is the same at 3 AM as at noon: (303) 674-0198.
Yes. Heavy-duty and semi-truck towing are part of our work. Tell dispatch the truck type, whether the trailer is loaded, your direction and the nearest mile marker.
This page covers I-70 out to Floyd Hill and the Central City Parkway at exit 243. If you are farther west, call anyway and dispatch will tell you right away whether a truck can reach you.
Cash, Mastercard or Visa. AAA members can call through their auto club, and dispatch will take the membership details.
Give dispatch your direction, the nearest mile marker or exit, and which shoulder you are on. That is enough for us to send the right truck to the right side of the median, from Sheridan Boulevard to Floyd Hill.
